Our broken hearts go out to his family.’

The royal family is grieving the passing of Graham Craker, the trusted bodyguard to Princes William and Harry, who has died at the age of 77. Affectionately known as “Crackers,” he dedicated 35 years of his life to serving the royals, including 15 years as the personal protector of the young princes.

Craker was by William and Harry’s side during some of their most difficult moments. He was at Balmoral in 1997 when the boys received the devastating news of their mother Princess Diana’s tragic death. Craker later recalled how Prince William quietly thanked him in that moment of heartbreak, recognizing the comfort and protection he provided.

During Diana’s funeral, Craker walked directly behind the hearse alongside William and Harry, ensuring they were supported during their mother’s final journey. As the cortege passed, crowds wept openly, tossing flowers in tribute, while cars on the opposite side of the M1 motorway came to a halt as people stepped out to bow in respect.

For the princes, Craker was more than just a bodyguard — he was a constant presence of loyalty and reassurance. His passing marks a profound loss for the royal family and for those who remember his steadfast devotion through the years.
